Children and young people who commit criminal offences often do so together with others. Even if they may feel that they benefit from engaging in criminal behaviour, they may also be exploited by older youth or adults, and it can be difficult to exit.
The Norwegian Resource Centres on Violence, Traumatic Stress and Suicide Prevention (RVTS) organised a workshop on criminal exploitation with Norwegian professionals working with young people involved in crime, as well as interviews and a survey. This has resulted in a book that covers Norwegian perspectives on this phenomenon in light of international research.
The book includes:
- an introduction to criminal exploitation as a concept and how this can be defined as human trafficking
- research and experience from other European countries
- how the support services can prevent and identify criminal exploitation
- how the support services can provide proper and comprehensive support
The book is free to download as a PDF. We hope that the handbook will be useful beyond Norway’s borders, and that it will contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience across countries.
